The Olympic Torch visited Stoke-on-Trent on its journey around the UK before London 2012. B Arts worked with 100 schools and many community groups to create a 1500-participant strong community parade to welcome the Torch to Hanley Park.
A six-month programme of workshops, rehearsals and making took place in schools and community settings across the city. New music, dance and costume was created by an artist team – headed up by the creation of Stoke’s Giant Blue Girl to lead the parade.
On May 30th a community parade of 1500 dancers, performers, musicians assembled at Staffordshire University before processing up College Road to welcome the Olympic Torch to Hanley Park.
