Mysteries in the Valley R&D

Mysteries in the Valley R&D in partnership with Fegg Hayes Futures

Since January 2023 B arts, associate artists and community members from Fegg Hayes, Chell and Chell Heath, have been working together to explore the myths, stories and heritage of the neighbourhood.

Across the summer we have been working together to form these into a pilot theatre show, using the framework of a traditional Mystery show cycle as a starting point. The show will take place on Friday 1st September and Saturday 2nd September at 6.30pm each night.

Meeting at Sylvester Community Trust Gardens, Oxford Road, ST6 6QP

GET INVOLVED

Mysteries in the Valley is a pilot show—a place to explore and test ideas, to have a go, to make space for what each person brings and to see what we can make together—it’s part of a research and development project delivered in partnership by B arts, Fegg Hayes Futures and some of the people who form the community of Fegg Hayes, Chell and Chell Heath.  It involves a newly formed photography group (The ST6 photography group) who have been exploring how to use photography to tell the stories of the neighbourhood, through landscape and portrait photography.  You’ll find their images in the show and also at an exhibition taking place at St Michael’s Church, Chell (Thursday 24th-Saturday 26th August). It also involves a very newly formed singing and song-writing group (The Chatterley Chorus), and performers from B arts and from the community.  The props, costume, set, story and performance development have all been made in community workshops (check out the gallery below for some of this work in action).

If you are local to Fegg Hayes, Chell or Chell Heath and you’d like to help create the show or take part in next step activities please get in touch. Got a story or idea you’d like to see included in the project? Then we’d love to hear about that too!
