New Futures Youth Engagement Programme

 New Futures Youth-Led Creativity

New Futures is our youth engagement programme co-created with young people, our regular weekly offers run in partnership with two groups, ASHA North Staffordshire and Fegg Hayes Futures.

Across the groups 95 young people regularly take part in creative workshops and mini projects, decided by the young people working with the artist team. So far in 2022 they have organised their own secret cinema style event, written and staged a murder mystery performance, created climate advocacy puppet show, and developed skills in lino printing, lantern-making, animation, script-writing, prop-making, performance and directing, music making, photography, collage, book-binding, puppet making, shadow play, clay, textiles, American football, Parkour and making working web shooters and mechanical claws!

We also run short youth-focussed projects and workshops with a focus on arts based change making. To find out more get in touch with Youth Engagement Lead martin.gooding@b-arts.org.uk

New Futures Lab

Our New Futures programme was developed through a Co-Creating Change Research and Development Project funded by the Battersea Arts Centre Co-Creating Change programme.  It was delivered by B arts in partnership with Fegg Hayes Futures and brought together 40 young people aged 9-13 from the neighbourhoods of Fegg Hayes, Chell and Chell Heath and their parents/grandparents/carers with artists from B arts to co-create a programme of creative interventions to make the neighbourhood safer for their age group.

The project included research and development project work, for the young people to try out ideas, masterclasses and research visits.
